Minor Production Company Research The Asylum

The Asylum is an American film studio and distributor which focuses on producing low-budget, direct-to-video productions. The studio has produced titles that capitalize on productions by major studios, usually resorting to film titles and scripts very similar to those of current blockbusters in order to lure customers. They have produced films such as, 'The Day The Earth Stopped', 'Battle Los Angeles' and 'Journey To The Centre Of The Earth'. With that being said they have an extremly low budget ( <$1 million ), however it has been pointed out for the work they have produced the outcome has been fairly neutral. The overall average rating sout out by IMDB is 5/10. Considering that the company has such a low budget they are unable to produce films with amazing detail and quality along with final finish.
Founded in 1997 the company has come relatively far in consideration their first budgeted film was less than $100,000. Their main headquaters is located in California, and owned by David Michael Latt who is now 68 and been in the filming business for nearly 40 years, filming and directing is his passion and quotes to 'never give up on your dreams'. The company is now investing in new versions of technology as well as an increased budget per film used. The final use of the production is shown by the use of media in the form of posters and trailers, viewing both of these it is evident to see the complications the company has when they use unneffective poster designs and final cut trailers to improve the use of their work. However the only one considerable of a mentioning would have to be the Battle Los Angeles, the poster has a good design behind it, with the use of a battle ship and weaponary. The trailer also connotes these same features with an immediate effect, detailing the explosions and sounds to match the action given in the trailers.
