Location Scouting
For this area it was fairly difficult in that I had to fully understand the surroundings in which I was going to film the specific scenes, and that everything that corresponds to the enigma code, therefore thoughts and also feelings will play a major part on the selection of my location(s). I firstly thought about specific scenes and what feelings I wanted to show towards the audience, in existing Social Realism films such as This Is England and also Kez, the location surroundings have usually stayed around / near the begin
This is a road near my house, i chose this location as it was a very suclouded area and if i wanted to film there would be minimal noise that would eventually take a toll on filming that would hit the mic and make me have to re-film my whole work. The area also has some different forms of land, in that there are some natural and human created landscapes, so if I wanted to film different areas / different settings I can easily manouver the camera tripod. There is one main con, which is the location is not far away from a primary school, where at specific times of the day there are loud noises of children screaming and shouting, therefore when coming to the filming if I decide to film in this location I will have to consider the times of day I will be filming due to rarity of quietness and also the day light is hinder due to the current season, that being winter where there is less day light in conjunction to say the Summer season.
For my location scouting, I went to Dorking, knowing that it was a far location I had to make my time valuable if visited. I had to plan out time very well and make precise timings for the use of the camera. The location is a beautiful piece of nature which would allow my to do some panning and also tracking shots if needed, however, there are many cons about the area. Firstly the land is not completely straight nor safe, due to the mud and slippy grass i could slip and possibly break the camera. It is also very far away for me to travel, it could anywhere upto an hour for me to travel to the locatio.
