Evaluation 2 Text

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary task?

My film is about a boy who has no social skills and finds it difficult to make friends and people that he can bond with and in consequence of this unattainable skill Simon has resorted to putting himself online in the hope of find a friend and potentially even more. My ancillary tasks are as follows; a movie poster and movie double page spread review. Before contemplating on just rushing straight head in with my ancillary tasks I had to some research and evaluation in which this would give me ideas and further develop the outcome of the final designs. The research entailed me looking at pre-existing designs along side a short analysis. From this I was able to see the effects the pre-existing posters and film reviews had on the outcome on the film and what effect they had as well as the codes and conventions of film posters and reviews.

How do my final products create synergy?

The three media products together allow for all forces to be combined and allow the audience for a much wider and clearer message and focus point. The use of more advertising campaigns and  media forms draws the audience in more and more. The poster is a clear cut and precise focus on a certain point of the film if not one of the key images. The idea of a film poster is to make the audience question on what this has to do with the film and the only way for them to find out is to watch the film. The use of a film review enables the audience to get an outside opinion on someone who has seen it first hand and whether or not they like it. The use of this media would either, enhance or discontinue the interest of the audience in question, of whether or not to watch the film. This gives a full overview of the film, however in comparison to the poster, it is only a glimpse of what lies within the film and is left up to audience interpretation. The film then has to live up to what has been shown on the film review and poster and to answer all questions that the audience have unless there is a sequel to the film.
